Creativity and Concept Development Course
This course and the designs created were focusing on understanding how marketing gives communication design a purpose that results in effective solutions. An understanding was gained of marketing objectives, target audience demographics, creative briefs, and a rationale for how a message must motivate the audience to act as intended. Some of the creative methods covered in the designs were packaging techniques and printing effects, intrigue, feel/tone/story, subtlety, shock, dwell time, and clarity. Photoshop was used extensively to build up skills and knowledge of the program.
Topics of Design
Designs were made for flyers, food packaging, album covers, advertisements, social media posts, travel adverts, and music posters. Every design was intended to be vastly different and show off a new skill whether it be complex designs, intriguing imagery, or direct simplicity. Between classes, first marketing briefs would be created and then rapid iteration upon the marketing brief and design would occur to create quick and creative concepts that accomplished the desired effect.
