During my EEP, I worked at my church as a Communications Team Intern creating graphics for different events and taking photographs of different events happening at the church. Graphics were created for social media and presentation use in the lobby each Sunday, and a library of still photography was built up each week to have photos to use in the future.
New On The Blog Wordmark Design
One project was to create a wordmark for their new blog posts on their website every Friday. When creating the wordmark the intent was to find a simple typeface with a dynamic layout to be engaging on their posts. Originally they wanted the wordmark to say new on the blog and have a slight black shadow behind it to be able to stand out on different background images as they used it.
After feedback and editing to the layout, this new wordmark and a reversed-out version have been used when new blog posts are made public each week, providing a new simple and consistent look each week. Below are three recent posts using the wordmark to notify Instagram followers of the blog post.
Social Media and Lobby Display Graphics
A small collection of some of the social media and lobby display graphics included a series focusing on questions about the previous Sunday's sermon, a picture and quote from a sermon put together, and promotional slides about volunteering for an event to benefit families with relatives with special needs.
Sermon Series Graphics
Two different sermon graphics that were created were for a sermon focused on broken relationships and fixing them. To show that in a graphic, a very worn and weathered font was chosen for "Relationship" while an unweathered and outlined version of the same typeface was used for "Repair" to visually show the repair. Because it was for February, a red cloudy background was used. The other series was focused on believers scattered throughout the world, so a worn texture was used on the font and an image of people traveling in the desert was used.
